This Verdun bit has a double bit break and is anatomically designed to help maintain light contact with the horse by distributing pressure more evenly between the tongue and the horse's bars. 

It will encourage the horse to come and rest on the bit.

It is ideal for starting with a young horse, for example.

The verdun version is very close to the olive bit, which also protects the mouth from being pinched and gives direct contact between the mouth and the rider's hand to seek tension.
