The pelham bit is a fixed lever bit. Through its action on the horse's neck and chin (mandible), it has a more or less significant lowering effect depending on the size of the cheek pieces and its installation (adjustment to two or four reins, rings, curb chain).

It is useful for powerful horses and/or horses with a high blood pressure to channel their energy.

The curb chain allows you to vary the intensity of the bit. It is advisable to use curb chain protectors for sensitive horses.
