Description

The hackamore consists of a steering ring, extended by 2 rods to the end of which the reins are attached.

A hackamore is used with opposite reins (supporting reins).

It has a very powerful leverage effect and its severity comes from the fact that it rests on the fragile bones of the bridge of the nose and, under the lower jaw, a curb chain of varying hardness that grips this sensitive part of the horse's head.

It is now used in show jumping, sometimes as a double bit to combine the 2 actions.

In any case, it requires a light, experienced hand.
