This little netting isn't just meant to keep flies from teasing horses' nostrils. Indeed, it is much more. It is a paramedical response to the concern that certain owners encounter who own horses that shake their heads a lot. Indeed, academics have found that wind, rain, and even air, by causing the blood vessels in the nose to swell, cause nerve irritation that is unbearable for the horse. Result: he defends himself by moving his head more or less violently. By protecting the nostrils of horses, this net would relieve 79% of horses that suffer from irritation (clinical study of Montfort University, GB).
