The butterfly bit is particularly suitable for show jumping.
It increases the rider's control over the horse, especially in tight curves.
The double snaffle and soft copper central olive make it an ergonomic bit.
The many possible combinations depending on the choice of rein placement and side, soft or strong, produce highly variable effects.
The combinations of reins and rings are described below:
1. Reins on the central ring: the action of the bit resembles that of a Baucher bit.
The main action is on the horse's mouth, while the pressure on the nape of the neck is very light.
2. Reins on the bottom ring: the leverage effect is stronger.
Thus the bit is similar to a 3-ring bit, but the pressure is distributed equally over the horse's mouth and neck.
3. A medium impact is achieved by using the rings which are attached to the middle and bottom rings.
4. A curb chain can also be used, attached to the top ring.
Thanks to the 2in1 barrel, the butterfly snaffle has two additional levels of intensity in the horse's mouth by simply turning the bit 180 degrees:
Stubben STEELtec 2-in-1 bits have a barrel with two levels of action intensity.
Choose the level of intensity just by turning the bit.
Position the barrel with the + sign to the left of the mouth to choose the more active side.
This allows the rider to have more precise and measured hand actions.
Position the barrel without the sign on the left side, to choose the softer side.
This bit is suitable for the most sensitive horses.
Alternating these 2 uses helps prevent the horse's mouth from becoming desensitised.
The copper alloy helps the horse to accept the bit more easily.
Copper gives off a pleasant flavour when it comes into contact with the horse's mouth, encouraging it to chew and salivate, so relaxing its jaw.
Soft Copper is made from: 90% solid copper, 7% iron and 3% aluminium (nickel-free) Soft Copper is a very strong alloy.
The double break provides great comfort for the horse thanks to the olive-shaped central part and the small joints.
This allows the bit to sit comfortably in the horse's mouth.
The horse naturally accepts the bit better.
No painful pressure on the palate or nutcracker effect
Even distribution of pressure from the rein in the horse's mouth.
Facilitates communication between horse and rider.
The edges of the ring holes in Stubben STEELtec bits have rounded edges, minimising the risk of pinching.
Long-lasting durability thanks to the choice of high-quality materials
An eye for detail, to create ergonomic shapes that increase the durability of the jaws.
