The American Hackamore is made of stainless steel and the noseband of neoprene.
When the rider performs his action, the noseband leans against the horse's muzzle.
The longer the prongs, the stronger the action.
The hackamore is a rather severe mouthpiece and difficult to use for some riders, as both reins must be kept in contact to prevent the hackamore from turning.
