Goyo Aga bits

The Goyo Aga bit, also known as the Spanish bit, is a technical bit designed to channel horses with strong natural impulsion. Thanks to its system of notches and the addition of a curb chain, it acts with more or less leverage depending on the setting, distributing pressure between the bars, the tongue and the nape of the neck.

The different effects of the Goyo Aga bit

The Goyo Aga is distinguished by its versatility: it can be used in three ways depending on the position of the reins on the bit rings:

• Soft effect: reins attached to the upper notch → action close to an olive bit or Baucher, with moderate lifting effect.
• Medium effect: reins on the central notch → balance between control and tolerance.
• Strong effect: reins on the lower notch → greater leverage on the neck and jaw.

Severity also depends on the curb chain setting: the tighter it is, the more direct the pressure exerted. This bit can therefore be adapted to many situations, provided it is handled with precision.

Which bit to choose?

Depending on the horse's behaviour, several bit configurations are available:

• Double break: helps to relax the mouth, as it acts more gently on the tongue, without hard contact on the palate.
• Tongue passage: frees up space for greater comfort, particularly appreciated by sensitive horses.
• Straight barrel: more rigid, for a more frank contact (reserved for experienced hands).
• Rubber or resin: softer materials that encourage salivation and soften the contact.

For which horse? For which rider?

This bit is recommended for horses that tend to lean, load or pull. It helps re-establish balance by limiting the training effect on the hand, especially on energetic horses or horses that are hot on the jumps. Requires a stable, experienced hand to avoid discomfort or resistance.
